RinkTally (“RinkTally,” “we,” “us”) helps youth hockey coaches and parents track live game and practice stats. This policy explains what information we collect through the RinkTally app and website, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at support@rinktally.com.

Information We Collect

RinkTally is used by coaches, parents, and family members who follow a player, all of whom sign in either with a one-time code sent to their email address or with Apple — there are no passwords to store. Once signed in, the information in the app falls into a few categories:

How We Use It

We use this information only to run the app: to authenticate you, to show your team's roster and games, to record and display stats, and to connect parents to the right player. We also keep a basic internal log of certain actions (like edits to game events) so we can investigate a support issue or data discrepancy if one comes up.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not build behavioral profiles from it.

Sharing & Third Parties

We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with advertisers or data brokers. RinkTally is built on Supabase, which hosts our database and handles authentication and email delivery on our behalf, and Resend, which holds the waitlist signups collected before launch and sends the launch notification email — both process data only to provide that infrastructure to us. We don't use any analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs in the app itself. Our website does use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly tool that doesn't use cookies or collect your IP address, to see aggregate visitor trends like which pages are viewed.

Within a team, a coach can see the stats for players on their roster, and a parent can see stats for the players they're linked to. Parents can also turn off coach visibility for their own player's tracking data at any time — see “Your Choices” below.

Family followers. A parent or coach can create a follow code and share it with family members — a grandparent, an aunt or uncle, a family friend — so they can follow a player's games. Anyone who redeems that code can see the player's name and jersey number, the live score and period, shots on goal, and each goal as it is recorded, including which player scored and assisted. With a subscription they can also see that player's season totals and game-by-game record. They cannot see the roster, the schedule, other players' individual stats, or anything a parent tracks privately, and they cannot change anything.

A coach can also issue one code covering a whole team, so that every family can follow along without being invited one at a time. Anyone holding it sees the same limited view described above, for that team's games.

Because a code can be forwarded, only share one with people you intend to give this access to. Codes expire after 30 days, can be redeemed a limited number of times, and can be turned off at any point — see “Your Choices” below.

A follower can ask a coach to link them as a player's parent, which grants the fuller parent access described above. That request is visible to the coach, including the email address of whoever asked, and takes effect only if the coach approves it.

Watching Without an Account

If you only want to watch a game, you can use RinkTally without giving us an email address. We create an account behind the scenes so the app can remember which players you follow, but it holds no name, no email and no contact details of any kind, and we have no way to identify the person using it.

The trade-off is entirely yours: that account lives only in the secure storage of the device that created it. If you lose the phone, reinstall the app, or switch devices, it is gone and neither you nor we can recover it or what it followed. Adding an email address in Settings at any time turns it into an ordinary account and removes that risk, keeping everything you already follow.

Because we cannot identify you, we also cannot action a request about such an account — to see or delete its data — without you making it from the device itself. Deleting the account from Settings on that device removes it and everything attached to it.

We require an email address before you can buy a subscription or be linked to a child as a parent. Both are things that need to outlast a single phone.

Children's Information

RinkTally is intended for use by adults — coaches and parents. Kids don't create their own accounts, sign in, or use the app directly. Player names and jersey numbers are entered by a coach or parent about their team or child, not collected directly from a child. If you're a parent with concerns about a player's information in the app, contact us and we'll help.

Data Retention & Deletion

We keep team, roster, and stat data for as long as the associated account or team is active. If a parent unlinks from a player, their own tracking history for that player is kept (so past stats aren't lost), but the parent no longer has access to that team.

You can delete your account yourself at any time, from Settings → Delete Account in the app. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you coach a team, that team loses its coach, but its players, games, and parent tracking data are not deleted — parents keep their own history. If you have a subscription, cancel it in your Apple or Google account first: deleting your RinkTally account does not cancel it.

You can also email support@rinktally.com to request deletion of your account or data — send it from the address on the account, and we'll complete it within 30 days. Deleting your account sets out both routes in full, including what is deleted and what is kept.

Accounts created without an email are the exception, because there is no address for us to verify a request against. They are deleted from Settings on the device that made them, and we retain them until then — an account that is never used again simply sits idle, holding nothing but a record of what it followed.

Your Choices

Security

We rely on Supabase's managed authentication and database infrastructure, and access to team data is restricted by row-level security rules based on your role and team membership. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using reasonable safeguards.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
